RIPLEY, TN – Pierce Distribution, 108 North Industrial Drive, Ripley, TN, and its employees recently came to the rescue of Pierce employee, Kim Latham, when she fell on hard times due to health issues.
When Latham was forced to take 12 weeks off with no pay, she worried about how she was going to support her three children. On short notice, Pierce Distribution Ripley Plant employees launched a fundraising effort for Latham. In just two days, enough donations were collected to begin an employee fundraiser, including a silent auction and bake sale.
“Everyone knows working Americans each spend more time each day with the people we work with than with our own families,” said Corporate Safety Director Tracy Schmitt. "Often, the people we work with become like a family, and no matter what we are going through, our Ripley family always pulls together when we have one of our team members needs us."
In addition to the nearly $1,000 the team raised, Latham received enough groceries and household items to see her through her six-week recovery. Pierce Distribution also paid for eight weeks of Latham’s insurance.
"I’m overwhelmed, but grateful for the support of my co-workers," said Kim Latham. "I couldn’t ask for a better place to work – Pierce has eliminated a lot of my worries."
